General Duties
- Perform technical clerical work in the Criminal/Traffic Department, supporting the Docketing Clerk by preparing, supporting, and acting as a back‑up for duties associated with various criminal/traffic dockets.
- Adapt to changing and evolving needs, circumstances, and tasks; learn and enter various memos and documents on all criminal and traffic case types.
- Review cases to determine proper issuance of warrants and review documents and memos for completeness and accuracy.
- Process cases by making entries and inquiries in the case management system (SMC); utilize a personal computer to enter and dispose of various criminal/traffic case types.
- Accompany a judge into the courtroom on docket days or attend dockets via video/telephone conferencing as needed.
- Accept and process eFilings from the import queues; answer inquiries and furnish information to attorneys, court personnel, and the public in person and via telephone.
- Perform case processing in receiving and initiating case files; review judgments, prepare warrants, summonses, garnishments, executions, bond settings, and docket control.
- Review legal documents for necessary information required for filing; determine processing required and take action in accordance with court rules, requiring detailed knowledge of applicable terminology, rules, and procedures.
- Perform accounting duties in receiving and disbursing monies, reconcile financial accounts, and prepare daily and monthly financial reports.
- Prepare a variety of documents related to court operations, including court orders, calendars, notices of hearings, court appearances, or reports; coordinate the flow of documents necessary for court assignments; and properly queue electronically filed proceedings for processing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in a related field or at least 60 semester hours from an institution of higher learning and one year of varied administrative experience performing a wide range of technical office duties.
- Additional experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for the required education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws, and legal factors pertaining to the court.
- Basic knowledge of organization operations, functions, and scope of authority of the court.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while handling a high‑volume workload in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and high stress.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with general policy and objectives.
- Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports from an automated system.
