Support CDL Driver

About the role

The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Pay

Starting wage: $24.00–$28.00 per hour, based on experience. Paid overtime at time and a half after 40 hours per week. $10,000 sign-on bonus for CDL Class-A drivers.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM until route completion
• May be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs
• 10–15 hours of overtime expected each week
• Voluntary overtime on weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes based on business needs
• Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks, and other tasks
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Collect payments as needed
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance and vehicle cleanliness
• Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
• Travel may be required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver’s license OR successfully complete Company-paid CDL training program
• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
• Must pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening
• Must pass a criminal background check

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, or walking
• Ability to work with all types of freight, including hazardous material, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
