About the role

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment in a healthcare setting. They ensure that deliveries are correct, purchase orders are processed, and delivery documents are prepared. Additionally, they deliver supplies to designated areas and respond to inquiries regarding supply availability and delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory and restock patient care supplies across multiple locations within the health system, including the central warehouse.
  • Maintain and update storeroom and departmental stock inventories.
  • Deliver supplies, interoffice mail, and US Mail to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Input incoming requests for supplies into the Materials Management Information System (MMIS).
  • Process inbound receiving and outbound shipping for medical/surgical and non-medical supplies.
  • Prepare and place stock orders using various software programs.
  • Audit suggested order reports and prepare stock orders.
  • Perform cycle counts and report discrepancies.
  • Manage and maintain records related to issue and distribution functions.
  • Prepare transfer, issue, and disposal documents for patient billable supplies.
  • Ensure supplies are rotated and outdated or obsolete items are removed.
  • Complete courier routes within established timeframes.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Clean patient care equipment according to manufacturer's requirements and instructions.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Healthcare Materials Management/Supply Chain Management or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of hospital supplies, equipment, and medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to manage a stressful work environment and work as part of a team.
  • Valid California or Nevada Driver's license (depending on state of employee's residence) or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • DMV printout showing 3 year clean driving record.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, talking, and hearing.
  • Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Sometimes lifting up to 55 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment.
  • Occasional travel to various health system locations.
