Job Description
The Supply Chain Buyer performs buying duties for assigned commodities in accordance with established policies and procedures and ERP best practices. They also negotiate and create moderately complex supplier contracts. Essential functions include initiating and evaluating quotations, seeking and qualifying new sources of supply, negotiating for best overall price, delivery, service, and quality to support the Master Production Schedule and meet customer needs. Other duties involve selecting, issuing, and managing purchase contracts, developing departmental goals and budgets, negotiating and creating supplier contracts, maintaining cost control, promoting supplier development, leading cost reduction initiatives, assisting in cross-functional teams, and preparing reports.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field OR relevant years of experience (3-5 years, preferably in a manufacturing environment)
- Knowledge of reading blueprints and understanding manufacturing processes and raw materials (preferred)
- Purchasing Certification (CPSM) preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong knowledge in Infor XA and/or experience in ERP systems
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with innovative thinking toward value creation
- Team-oriented
- Experience in lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to travel 15%

Leadership Responsibility
This position does not directly supervise other associates.

- Sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
