The Supplier Quality Specialist at Amy’s Kitchen works in the Supplier Quality Department. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and quality of raw materials used in Amy’s products. The position involves working closely with the Sourcing Department on supplier selection, qualification, and performance management.
Responsibilities
- Research raw materials and understand Amy’s raw material requirements and supplier constraints.
- Keep abreast of latest scientific and regulatory news affecting ingredients.
- Plan, prepare, and execute supplier audits to maintain Amy’s quality standards and supplier expectations.
- Finalize raw material specifications, including sensory, functionality, food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
- Resolve discrepancies between supply chain capabilities and Amy’s specifications, escalating issues as necessary.
- Assist in supplier selection by providing a quality and food safety perspective during strategic sourcing events.
- Conduct supplier qualification audits and approve supplier documentation.
- Maintain quality metrics for all suppliers within the category.
- Manage the supplier corrective action program, including preparing and approving supplier responses.
- Resolve non-conformance issues between Amy’s manufacturing team and suppliers.
- Lead teams in analyzing raw material problems and implementing continuous improvement techniques.
- Maintain professional relationships with supplier staff to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
- Support on-site supplier support during production runs of Amy’s raw materials.
- Perform raw material risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Participate in team projects and collaborate with colleagues to achieve collective goals.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and attention to detail abilities.
- Ability to explain technical requirements clearly and concisely.
- Understanding and reporting on technical documents or issues.
- Proficiency in using Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.
- ASQ Certified Quality Auditor certification (preferred).
- HACCP Certification.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Sciences, with a focus on Food Science or Food Technology.
- One to five years of relevant experience and/or training.
