Summary Mortenson is currently seeking a Supplier Quality Manager that will lead, manage, document, monitor, and analyze the quality system on medium to large projects. Also, ensure necessary corrective and preventative actions are taken. Responsibilities Incorporate and lead Mortenson’s quality system on medium to large sized projectsLead planning, development, and implementation of the Quality Management Plan and system for all work divisions from notice to proceed through final customer acceptanceEstablish and lead quality control initiatives, activities (three Phase Inspection Process), and corrective actionsReview project plans for quality requirements prior to issued for Construction drawings Manage Quality Events and corrective actionsManage the punch list identification and closeout processManage Non-Conformance Notices and the Request for Information process through corrective actionsManage and resolve issues with and without guidance from the Project Manager or SuperintendentOversee and coordinate third party peer design and third party testing agenciesMake and implement recommendations as necessaryManage subcontracts and suppliers for the projectVisit suppliers to review quality program for vital project componentsCoach and mentor Field Engineer(s) and Project Engineer(s)Provide job assignments and manage career developmentTrain others on Kaizen event roles or visual managementParticipate in and lead group Kaizen activitiesEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performanceOther duties as assigned, including:Maintain quality processes until project completionComplete special projects or initiatives as assigned by the operating group quality directorAssure project success if required to run a project or portion of a project as a Project Manager or Superintendent Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong attention to detail to organize and manage multiple project tasksBasic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesProficient in Microsoft Excel and Primavera UnifierProven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies Knowledge of one or more quality systems: i.e., Malcolm Baldridge, ISO 9000, Lean, Kaizen, Army Corps of Engineers, Mortenson’s Quality System, continuous improvement, value streams, etcActive listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedbackAbility to travel up to 75%Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and Affirmative Action plans and their intended use Education And Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent fieldMinimum three years experience in the design, engineering, or construction industry with experience leading a project’s quality systemExperience with issue management, and inspection of work put in placeCompleted training in basic project management and supervisionCurrent driver’s license Essential Physical Requirements This position requires the following with or without an accommodation; sitting, walking, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, visual acuity, and utilization of a computer and office equipment. This person must be physically capable of reviewing a jobsite multiple times daily. The working environments consist of exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and outdoor weather; as well as indoor and climate-controlled settings. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
