Supplier Quality Manager

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess potential suppliers, conduct audits of their facilities and processes, and ensure they meet the necessary quality standards and requirements.
  • Visiting supplier facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
  • Manage complex Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for new product introductions.
  • Ensure all mechanical fabrications meet strict global mandates, including ASME Section VIII for pressure vessels.
  • Verify supplier execution of hydrostatic testing, helium leak detection, radiography, and other validation processes required by the Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
  • Drive rigorous 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone root-cause analyses for critical structural leaks or electrical shorts.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in their processes, performance, and quality management systems. Serving as a liaison between our company's senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.
  • Feed manufacturing defect data and field-failure metrics back to internal Design for Manufacturing (DFM) teams and influence inputs into the DFMEA & PFMEA processes.
  • Provide objective quality performance data and metrics for supplier scorecards.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Global Code of Business Principles, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Vision and Values, Operational Framework

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control methodologies, and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME).
  • Problem Solving and Analytical Skills: Identifying and resolving issues related to product quality, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Auditing Skills: Experience in conducting internal audits and assessments per ISO 9001 and ASME Sect. VIII Div. I
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in all aspects of quality control, including data collection, documentation, and testing procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET Certified Program preferred, or Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from 4 year ABET Certified Program
  • Prior experience in quality assurance, quality control and related fields.
  • Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills. In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of quality control standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001.
  • ISO 9001 Auditor certification.
