Supplier Quality Engineer (US)

A snapshot of your day at our Fort Payne, Alabama facility: you’ll work daily with Generation Core Engine parts at a high technical and quality level, collaborate in a multi-cultural environment across local and global departments, and leverage digitalization tools to enhance processes, resolve nonconformances through containment and root-cause analysis, and implement preventive and risk-mitigation measures.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Supplier Qualification: Support the multi-functional supplier selection team with quality data; conduct supplier audits, capability/capacity assessments, and risk evaluations.
• Product and Process Qualification: Lead cross-functional teams to execute Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) per applicable standards; drive supplier quality measures across the entire process chain.
• Supplier Quality Management: Plan, implement, optimize, and monitor the efficiency of the Supplier Quality Management Process (procedures, guidelines, tools) to ensure required quality; coach suppliers on Siemens Energy’s Quality Management Process and related tools.
• Supplier Improvement: Initiate and implement supplier quality improvement programs, perform root-cause analysis, and deploy risk-mitigation measures; track implementation and effectiveness.
• Design Review and Improvement (Supplier Early Involvement): Act as the main SQM interface with design engineers; conduct design reviews with suppliers for new designs, initiate early supplier involvement when needed, and support Design-to-Localization (DTL) and Design-to-Cost (DTC) efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Five or more years of experience in a technical or supply-chain role, including supplier qualification, product/process qualification, and technical supplier development to ensure a quality, cost-effective global supply base.
• Proficient in leading international projects and virtual multi-functional teams; strong self-starting, strategic, analytical, and intercultural skills.
• Extensive knowledge of welding and coating; CWI and NACE (AMPP/FROSIO) certifications preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO & ASME Standards; strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills; basic commercial knowledge; experience with root-cause analysis and risk-management methodologies.
• Willing to travel up to 50%; lead auditor experience or certification and project-management experience are preferred.
• Must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
