Supplier Quality Engineer for the Value Innovation Group

Join Komatsu and be part of a team that identifies improvement opportunities and implements solutions within the supply chain. This role assists the Manager Supplier Quality in supplier qualification, development, and quality assurance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct supplier audits to ensure supplier processes and quality systems meet Komatsu product requirements and consistently achieve desired quality levels at optimum costs.
  • Determine the type and degree of control necessary to assure conformance of manufactured and purchased products.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts with suppliers, KAC engineering, purchasing, and sourcing to prevent non-conforming product use and correct supplier quality processes.
  • Manage and administer the Corrective Action System to ensure timely, documented resolutions for product non-conformance; report results and maintain meeting minutes and action plans.
  • Analyze data and prioritize action plans for supplier improvement (e.g., Warranty Claims, Technical Service Information, Defect Notices).
  • Monitor, develop, chart, report, and present specific Quality Indices (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly) for internal and external use.
  • Monitor, develop, chart, report, and present specific Supplier Quality improvement activities (e.g., QC Circle, 6-Sigma, Komatsu Way).
  • Develop and issue detailed procedures to facilitate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ensuring compliance and clear process understanding.
  • Lead quality improvement efforts (QC Circle) with cross-functional teams to research and prioritize quality issues.
  • Investigate and provide dispositions for nonconforming products to manufacturing, purchasing, and sourcing teams.
  • Participate in Safety efforts (Safety Circle).
  • Manage and administer the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new supplier submissions, revised parts, corrective actions, and related activities.
  • Perform additional duties as defined by management.

Requirements

  • AAS in Engineering, Business Administration, or other technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior experience.
  • ASQC certification as a Quality Engineer or Quality Auditor preferred; other ASQ certifications are a plus.
  • Preferred ISO internal auditor with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Strong communication (oral and written), presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and key company programs (e.g., Lotus Notes, Excel, Office, Windows).
  • Experience working in all areas of supplier quality (e.g., castings, forgings, fabrications, machining, electrical, purchased parts, heat treat).
  • Proficient in quality and problem-solving skills (e.g., 8D, 5P, Control Plan, FMEA, APQP) with the ability to teach basic problem-solving techniques and facilitate team events.
  • Travel is required (passport needed); both national and international.

Pay

This role offers a hiring range of $79,280 - $99,100. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
