Supplier Quality Engineer
About the role
Play a critical role in strengthening STEMCO's global supplier quality strategy. Drive operational excellence by ensuring all externally sourced materials and services meet the highest standards for quality and delivery. Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support business objectives, improve supplier performance, and contribute to long-term organizational success.
Responsibilities
- Establish and communicate quality and performance expectations for suppliers, ensuring accountability to defined standards
- Develop and strengthen supplier capabilities, focusing on technical, organizational, and financial stability
- Build and maintain a supplier certification system to drive consistency and performance
- Provide technical support to suppliers, including statistical process control, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead cross-functional efforts to implement process improvements across the supply base
- Manage and track non-conformances of incoming materials and components
- Maintain and update the Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM)
- Partner with internal quality teams on quarantines, rework, or return processes
- Communicate performance metrics to suppliers and lead improvement initiatives as needed
- Partner with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely flow of parts and accurate information
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
- 5–7 years of experience in Quality, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing
- Experience with statistical process controls and data analysis
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working cross-functionally with teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tools such as Smartsheet and Minitab
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand GD&T fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a related field
- ASQ Certification (Quality Engineer or Quality Auditor)
- Experience with CMMs, vision-based measurement systems, and spring analysis equipment
- Experience conducting Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and interpreting technical data reports
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel
