Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Cook up and manage quality systems of global suppliers to make sure parts meet BMW's / Magna product specs.
  • Take charge of quality aspects during new product launches, checking supplier and part developments, and making sure they stick to specs from handover to Supplier Quality Assurance until production starts (SOP).
  • Help Module Quality Engineers with tasks like risk assessments, process flow diagrams, and product development.
  • Inspect supplier locations for process and quality management systems to confirm they can make new parts and processes.
  • Solve quality problems for supplier issues using methods like the 8D approach.
  • Chat with other BMW / Magna plants and teams worldwide to keep quality standards consistent and solve problems together.
  • Oversee the "process series" (series of tests and validations) with suppliers before SOP to make sure everything is on track.
  • Review and improve supplier quality and production systems, analyze monthly supplier ratings, and manage ISIR release process / PPAP.

Job Qualifications

  • University degree/college diploma or relevant course completion
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality field in a technical capacity
  • Adept with problem-solving methodologies; demonstrated ability to use structured problem-solving methodologies to drive effective and sustainable corrective actions
  • Knowledge of all quality concepts and phases, including PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and control plans
  • Computer literacy with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work any shift schedule according to business needs and work overtime and travel with little notice
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and clearly articulate concepts/ideas related to quality engineering
  • Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and handle multiple issues simultaneously
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new suppliers, products, and processes
  • Excellent communication/negotiation skills with peers and suppliers in a positive, cooperative way while maintaining productive and professional relationships with key functional areas

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Familiarity with BMW’s quality computer systems (QSYS, SPQM, SAP)
  • Project Management experience specifically in managing project events, timelines, and coordinating multiple stakeholders
  • Prior exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other CI frameworks
