General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft, tactical reconnaissance radars, and advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
About the role
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to drive product quality with the supply chain across the entire lifecycle — from new product introduction (NPI) through sustaining production — while ensuring AS9100 compliance, robust quality systems, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop new suppliers to ensure product and flow-down compliance with GA-ASI and customer requirements.
- Identify and drive supplier and product improvements based on supplier performance and product compliance metrics.
- Conduct comprehensive supplier audits and on-site inspections to evaluate manufacturing processes and adherence to quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, and fishbone diagrams to identify and address quality problems effectively.
- Identify and implement design or manufacturing changes to enhance quality, producibility, and cost efficiency.
- Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement projects to improve yield and reduce nonconformance.
- Support and approve First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Perform on-site or virtual product verification activities (Source Inspection) to ensure product compliance prior to shipment.
- Provide technical support to receiving inspection personnel with the resolution of confirmed and suspected quality nonconformances.
- Serve as a technical quality liaison across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve complex issues and ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline and two or more years of related experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must be able to apply a basic understanding of inspection methods and have a basic knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Must have the analytical ability required to develop solutions to routine and non-routine quality issues and the skills required to present those solutions to internal contacts.
- Must be detail-oriented to accurately prepare statistical reports and technical documents in support of company objectives.
- Must have good leadership skills to ensure project costs and schedules are maintained.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
