About the Role
The Quality Engineer will join a collaborative team in our Modular Group, working on large complex projects for our dynamic manufacturing-construction organization in Edgerton, Wisconsin. This role involves close collaboration with manufacturing on first piece, in-process, and final inspection, while monitoring in-house processes for product conformance. A primary responsibility is ensuring our systems meet ISO9000 compliance and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Be part of the supplier selection team.
- Establish performance metrics and measure cost of quality.
- Maintain appropriate quality database and report monthly on actual quality and delivery performance.
- Conduct internal audits and team reviews to drive improvements for quality, cost, service, and delivery.
- Develop reports and metrics to measure internal performance and hold formal Quarterly Business Reviews to drive improvements.
- Create and maintain a formal corrective action process based on Lean and Six Sigma concepts to resolve quality and functional issues.
- Responsible for the control and disposition of non-conforming materials.
- Develop customer relationships to facilitate new designs and engineering changes, including DFM reviews.
- With manufacturing, develop inspection procedures and data collection to ensure floor quality.
- Lead problem-solving teams using formal processes to investigate and determine root cause of production quality problems.
- Be the internal “voice of the customer” to avoid disruptions in the manufacturing process.
- Represent CEI in discussions with customers regarding quality initiatives and performance.
- Support the team with proactive communications and assist in achieving its goals.
- Develop and maintain Control plans and PFMEAs as required by customers.
- Work with subcontractors to ensure their adherence to contractual obligations.
- Maintain monthly performance tracking.
- Track CARS and drive to closure.
- Audit internal systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9000/2015.
- Attend customer meetings and represent quality.
Requirements
- Ability to develop process flows, control plans, and PFMEAs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and use.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Experience: Background in fabrication and/or assembly processes desired. Background in electrical assembly and testing.
Pay
Salary Range: $80,250 to $105,000
