Supplier Quality Engineer
About the role
We're seeking a proactive Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to ensure our suppliers consistently deliver high-quality materials and components. You'll work closely with suppliers and internal teams to improve capability, resolve issues, and support operational excellence. This role involves frequent travel (up to 2 weeks per month) to supplier sites and regular collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure quality excellence across the global supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Conduct supplier visits and perform quality and capacity audits using OEE, saturation, lead time (LT), and on-time delivery (OTD).
- Support supplier qualification and assess technical capabilities and readiness.
- Manage non-conformities and lead corrective and preventive action processes.
- Drive continuous improvement through RCA, 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and other methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with APQP, FAI, CQC, and customer/regulatory requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and develop improvement plans.
- Conduct audits aligned with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100.
- Maintain accurate documentation and report performance updates.
Requirements
- 5+ years of supplier quality experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong background in machining, metal fabrication, structural frames, and welding.
- Proficiency with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, PDCA, APQP/FAI/CQC.
- Experience with WCM, Lean Six Sigma, and capacity audits.
- Ability to lead audits independently and drive improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Willingness to travel frequently domestically and internationally (up to 2 weeks per month).
