About the Role

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will drive supplier qualification, product and process qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure a high-quality, cost-effective supply base.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support the cross-functional supplier selection team with required quality data; conduct supplier audits and capability/capacity assessments to evaluate supplier risk.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) according to applicable process descriptions and standards.
  • Support supplier quality measures across the entire process chain.
  • Plan, implement, optimize, and control the efficiency of the Supplier Quality Management Process (procedures, guidelines, and tools) to ensure required quality levels.
  • Coach suppliers on following Quality Management Processes and using related tools.
  • Initiate and implement supplier quality improvement programs, perform root cause analysis, and apply risk mitigation measures at the supplier level.
  • Track the implementation and effectiveness of improvement measures.
  • Participate in design reviews as the main interface between Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and design engineers.
  • Conduct design reviews with suppliers for new designs and initiate early supplier involvement when necessary.
  • Support Design to Localization (DTL) and Design to Cost (DTC) efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a similar discipline (required). Master’s Degree (desired). Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical field and/or working in Supply Chain.
  • Experience performing supplier qualification, product/process qualification, and technical supplier development to ensure a global, quality-assured, and cost-effective supply base.
  • Experience leading projects and running virtual cross-functional teams in an international environment.
  • Experience with large steel fabrication or casting parts, including extensive knowledge of welding and coating.
  • Knowledge of ISO and ASME Standards.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and other quality & risk management methodologies.
  • Project management experience (preferred).
  • Lead Auditor experience or certification (preferred).
  • CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification (preferred).
  • NACE (AMPP / FROSIO) certification (preferred).

Schedule

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time. Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
