About the Role
Lead the overall Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) functions for all facilities, including incoming inspection, issue containment, and supplier actions. Provide technical support and analysis on supplier quality-related issues to ensure timely resolution. Support nonconformance and corrective action systems to improve supplier quality culture.
Responsibilities
- Ensure suppliers meet contractual requirements and maintain compliance with product specifications.
- Work with Purchasing, Receiving, Material Control, and QA Receiving Inspection to evaluate and disposition incoming production goods. Complete or oversee 100% Blanket and Bellow inspection, which must be performed by a Quality representative.
- Communicate product acceptance results to all necessary departments.
- Support containment, segregation, NCM review, and trend analysis processes for supplied parts.
- Issue and manage external supplier corrective and preventative action requests. Verify effectiveness of supplier corrective actions.
- Assist in responding to customer-initiated Supplier Corrective and Preventative Actions, including Failure Analysis Reports and Root Cause Analysis for supplier parts.
- Evaluate, qualify, and approve new suppliers/vendors.
- Perform on-site Supplier Qualification audits.
- Create development plans for suppliers to support performance targets and monitor their progress in meeting company goals.
- Work directly with suppliers to improve overall product quality and drive improvements to their quality systems.
- Train suppliers on company quality requirements, investigations, part/product-related training, and process improvement tools.
- Develop and maintain metrics and scorecards for suppliers.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills
- Advanced ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, including understanding of advanced GD&T principles and inspection of critical features.
- Proficient in FAI and PPAP methodologies.
- Working knowledge of systematized corrective action methodologies (8D, RCCA, 7 Step, CAR).
- Proven leadership, interpersonal skills, and personal development skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in Quality Management Systems (QMS), such as ISO 9001, and ability to apply quality standards in measurement activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
Qualifications
- Previous supplier quality experience with a good understanding of quality processes and systems, manufacturing processes, basic statistical methods, and program management is highly desirable.
- Engineering or manufacturing background; fabrication experience preferred.
- 4-year college or university degree in Quality, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience, including exposure to methodologies like Six Sigma or Kaizen to drive process improvements.
