About the Role

Plans, organizes, directs, and reports on all supplier quality-related activities, including raw materials, packaging materials, GMP service providers, contract manufacturers, and laboratories to ensure fulfillment of contract and purchase order requirements. Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements while ensuring suppliers adhere to customer quality-imposed technical standards and maintain a quality system.

Conducts programs to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. Prepares, maintains, and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures for compliance with customer or government requirements. Reviews corrective action reports and purchase orders to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities at supplier and subcontractor facilities and maintains feedback loops. May administer certified supplier programs, audit third-party manufacturers, perform deviation investigations, and participate in vendor selection.

Requires frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards in electrical, machinery, structural, HVAC equipment, and quality inspection. Demonstrates the ability to perform complex tasks, plan schedules, and work under general supervision with frequent internal and external supplier contacts. Represents the organization on specific projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 7 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience or Master’s degree or above and 1 year of experience.
  • Ability to inspect confined spaces, stoop, crawl, bend, climb ladders and stairs as required.
  • Able to read blueprints.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and interfacing with internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior technical skills, experiences, and inspections in shipboard electrical & electronics and/or graduate of an apprenticeship for marine/commercial electrical with additional technical skills in HVAC equipment systems, machinery, structural, and piping.
  • Quality experience in inspections and audits.
  • Proven leadership ability, communication, and relationship skills to effectively engage with Ingalls, customer, and supplier representatives.
  • Experience in a marine setting and environment.
  • Certification in a shipyard or marine discipline.
