Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
  • Asking questions and listening to customer needs.
  • Directing customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, STAR card.
  • Providing premier customer service.
  • Cooperating and building positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; taking accountability for own actions and outcomes.
  • Maintaining store appearance.
  • Sales:
    • Cross-selling products and knowing layout of the store.
    • Making suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on customer's individual needs.
    • Upselling products.
    • Leveraging company tools and technology to confidently provide the customer with product knowledge, features, and specifications.
    • Using a Point-of-Sales system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to the customer.
    • Completing various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
  • Inventory:
    • Being the keeper of merchandise and completing all inventory processes.
    • Making sure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
    • Might participate in periodic inventories.
    • Responsible for the security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
    • Providing direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects, tasks, managing merchandise, and inventory.
  • Dependability:
    • Adhering to assigned work schedule.
    • Accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.

    Qualifications

    • Product Knowledge: Moderate level of knowledge of products and merchandise.
    • Experience: 1-2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
    • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios; must be able to make change in American monetary units.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business; ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision; ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win-win situations.

    Physical Demands

    • Work Environment: Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours; may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
    • Vision Abilities: Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments.
    • Work Hours: Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
