About the role

This position is located at: Outdoor Recreation - Fort Irwin, CA. Be Part Of Our Outdoor Recreation Team - Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Offers a Variety Of Services For Our Fort Irwin Soldiers And Families, Including Equipment Rentals, RV and Mini Storage Rental Spaces, RV Camp Site, 6 hole Pitch N' Putt golf course, Skeet and Trap range and Disc Golf.

Responsibilities

  • Help Plans, schedules, organizes and implements outdoor activities such as, but not limited to cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, trips, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain climbing and overnight recreational trips.
  • Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment.
  • Captures and coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses.
  • Researches, plans and develops or enlarges outdoor recreation areas.
  • Prepares standard operating procedures.
  • May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5-year plan.
  • Transports large groups of people on trips to locations within the local community as well as outside the geographic area.
  • Aids in loading and unloading of passengers.
  • Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity.
  • Drives in a variety of driving situations such as public roads, narrow country roads in all types of traffic. Ensures the safe travel of passengers.
  • Performs the full range of personnel management responsibilities for subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • Conditions of employment: Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation. Required to obtain within 90 days of hire or possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Qualifications: Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following Experience in, OR a combination of experience and education which provides the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups. OR Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.

  • Required: Experience operating a multi-passenger vehicle.
