SUPERVISORY IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)

This position is located at DISA White House Communications Agency, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, District of Columbia. It is an Excepted Service position under 10 U.S.C. 1599f and does not confer eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. Current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employees will be placed on an Excepted appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Information Technology Specialists and provides oversight of Information Assurance (IA) contractors who administer the WHCA IA program.
  • Performs supervisory duties such as assigning and reviewing work, approving support forms, developing performance standards, evaluating work performance, and improving production and quality of products or services.
  • Compiles IA resource requirements from subordinate activities and develops documentation for Program Objective Memorandum and other resourcing processes.
  • Coordinates with IA managers, including DISA, DoD, and supported activities, to discuss and resolve IA issues and requirements.
  • Establishes procedures within the command to document the status of information system accreditation.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months as per DoD 8140 policy series.
  • This is a drug-testing position.
  • This is a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information position with Yankee White clearance requirements.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

Basic Requirements

  • Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing IT-related work or data and being asked by others to review their work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to meet those needs.
  • Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from various sources.

Qualifying Experience

To qualify at the GG-13 level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating the following competencies:

  • Analyzing, evaluating, and recommending hardware or software changes to diverse computer systems to ensure seamless integration of information assurance requirements.

Volunteer experience, including work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, may be credited. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level.

Additional Information

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service.
  • Prior to reporting for duty, the selectee must be eligible for a DoD Top Secret security clearance with access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and be approved for Presidential Support Duty (Yankee White - Category II, minimum).
  • A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • This position is subject to a one-year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
  • Telework availability will be based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
  • Individuals tentatively selected will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
  • Moving costs and recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives may be authorized.
  • Veterans' Preference will be applied to preference-eligible candidates in accordance with procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 3005.
