About the role

Duties include directing team operations, utilizing knowledge of procurement policy, methods, and contracting functions to accomplish day-to-day operations, resolving problems, and improving procedures. The role provides operational control and support to the Supplier Operations Section and is responsible for providing acquisition and logistics support to authorized activities.

Responsibilities

• Directs team operations, including pre-award and post-award contracting
• Utilizes knowledge of procurement policy, methods, and contracting functions
• Provides operational control and support to the Supplier Operations Section
• Responsible for providing acquisition and logistics support to authorized activities
• Develops and implements innovative supply support solutions
• Plans acquisitions, develops and vets sources, evaluates proposals, selects contract types, and performs close-out procedures
• Develops and establishes contract quality assurance requirements

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive
• Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination
• Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
• Must have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supervisory Contract Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support the Basic Contracting Requirement, Contracting Officer Requirement, and specialized experience.

• Basic Contracting Requirement: A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent experience
• Contracting Officer Requirement: Must possess at least two years of experience in a contracting position
• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent, including applying complex fact-finding, analytical, and problem-solving techniques, leading a diverse team, and comprehensive experience in acquisition and contracting

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level. If using education to meet the Basic Contracting Requirement, transcripts or other documentation must be provided.

Additional Information

This position requires DoD Acquisition Contracting, Professional (Foundational) certification within required timeframes and 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every 2-years. The selectee must also sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" and undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
