Supervisor, Tissue Services - Night Shift

About the Role

The Supervisor, Tissue Services facilitates the process of tissue recovery for transplant/research of musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular, and ocular tissues. The supervisor ensures AATB, FDA, OSHA, and Indiana Donor Network guidelines, policies, and regulations are followed. They supervise the daily activities of the Tissue Services department, including the skills of the Tissue Recovery Coordinators.

• Acts as an Administrator On-Shift.
• Assists Management with oversight of the Tissue Services department and is actively involved in leadership-level meetings and planning.
• Oversees the department’s new employee orientation and continuing education programs.
• Provides input to and/or supervises the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, productive, and professional workforce.
• Aseptically recovers musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular (including heart for valves), and ocular tissues in accordance with FDA, AATB, OSHA standards, and Indiana Donor Network protocols.
• Accurately and efficiently completes post-case tasks, including chart completion and documentation.
• Compiles medical/tissue recovery data from appropriate sources to provide timely and accurate information for assessment by tissue processing partners.

Requirements

In addition to Level I and Level II education and/or experience, a CTBS certification is required. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Ability to read and follow checklists, procedures, and provide direction to other staff.
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with nurses, physicians, hospital/transplant professionals, funeral directors, Coroners, and Indiana Donor Network employees.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Schedule

This position will work a rotating night shift schedule from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.
