What you’ll do

  • Lead Field Operations: Supervise daily activities of underground utility construction crews, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and project deadlines are met.
  • Enforce Safety First: Maintain a strict culture of safety by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, DOT standards, local traffic control laws, and company safety policies (including proper PPE and daily tailgate meetings).
  • Project Coordination: Read and interpret blueprints, project designs, and line prints. Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, and local utility locators (811) to prevent utility strikes.
  • Resource Management: Manage and allocate equipment, tools, and materials efficiently. Ensure routine maintenance is completed on machinery (directional drills, excavators, vacuum trucks).
  • Documentation & Reporting: Track daily production logs, timesheets, and material usage. Provide regular progress updates to leadership and resolve any field-level issues or deviations from the project plan.

What you’ll need

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in telecom construction, specifically focused on underground utility installation (directional boring, trenching, conduit/fiber placement).
  • Leadership: At least 1–2 years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising field crews or subcontractors.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret construction prints, schematics, and splice/cut sheets. Deep understanding of underground utility locating and 811 protocols.
  • Licenses & Certifications: * A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Class A or B CDL is highly preferred). - OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and travel extensively across the state of Oregon as required by project locations.
