Supervisor, Substation Operations (Shifts Required)
About the role
Supervises crews in construction and maintenance activities for T&D substations. Coordinates maintenance and construction of assigned assets by making arrangements for staffing, materials and equipment with other sections such as Maintenance, Field Communications/Engineering, Control Centers and contractors according to prescribed schedules and methods. Responsible for the reliability and condition of substation assets. Analyzes maintenance data and its accurate input directly into company database. Sets clear expectations and provides ongoing feedback to employees regarding their performance. Effectively addresses performance issues. Conducts comprehensive performance reviews (per applicable bargaining unit contract).
Responsibilities
- Coordinates maintenance and construction of assigned assets.
- Responsible for the reliability and condition of substation assets.
- Analyzes maintenance data and inputs it into the company database.
- Ensures adherence to local union contracts and agreements.
- Works with managers and employees to resolve grievances and concerns.
- Directs safety awareness and compliance initiatives within the group.
- Champions efforts to achieve world-class safety standards.
- Models a customer-first attitude and resolves customer issues promptly.
- On-call responsibility during off-hours on a rotational basis.
- Subject to shift work including weekends.
Requirements
- Five (5) or more years of experience in the operation and maintenance of substation facilities.
- Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of methods, work practices, and procedures regarding the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric T&D facilities and infrastructure at both secondary and primary operating voltages.
- Detailed knowledge of power system maintenance and operation.
- Strong knowledge of computers and related technology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent related experience is required.
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
