About the Role
Supervises employees and quality assurance activities for an assigned area to produce a high-quality product within established standards for safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping.
Responsibilities
- Supervises personnel assigned to duties relating to adherence of quality programs, including Safety Quality Food Certification (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Quality Management System (QMS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Micro lab procedures.
- Documents, trains, and monitors employee application of new training.
- Ensures follow-up of non-conformities.
- Participates in daily plant walk-throughs.
- Reviews and signs off on daily pre-operation inspections, including belts, tools, verification logs, and sanitation.
- Reviews daily pallet tickets and files them with QA documentation for designated production lines.
- Reviews employee paperwork to ensure it is free of errors.
- Performs regular quality checks on mixing procedures, codes, cooler-freezer temperatures, footbaths, and conducts appropriate follow-up.
- Performs ingredient check-ins and works with the Purchasing department to resolve discrepancies.
- Monitors damaged ingredients, prepares non-conformance documentation, and makes recommendations for disposal and/or repair.
- Conducts HACCP pre-shipment inspections.
- Assists with customer complaints, collects and organizes paperwork for review, and initiates corrective actions.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least five years of Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment, including development of written technical information, implementation of new programs, and supervisory/management experience with staff development.
- Experience designing and executing training programs.
- Strong knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, documentation, and statistical process control theory.
- Experience integrating Statistical Process Control Methods required.
- Experience with FDA and USDA product labeling and Nutritional Labeling requirements desired.
- Strong field knowledge of current software and process technology.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Excellent verbal, technical writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to break down highly technical discussions into understandable concepts for non-technical colleagues.
- Strong leadership ability to coach and mentor quality technicians at multiple plant locations.
- Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 45 hours per week.
Skills
- 1-3 years of experience preferably in a food production setting.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Use of protective equipment such as sterilized uniform overcoat/smock, facial hair nets, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
- Ability to work in environments with significant temperature fluctuations and fast-paced, close-proximity conditions.
Schedule
This role requires extended hours based on production needs, including work after regular business hours and on weekends.
