About the Role

This position is for an Operations Supervisor, Planning. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, International Product slotting, and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor ensures the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products align with company service and cost objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan, and assure continuous improvement.
  • Keeps senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations.
  • Develops systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably.
  • Manages operations to meet productivity and service goals, complying with client agreements and KPIs.
  • Implements cost-saving measures and suggests operational improvements.
  • Applies communication and motivational techniques to supervise, counsel, and discipline team members.
  • Assists in hiring, training, and professional development programs.
  • Plans daily work schedules, assigns duties, and reviews progress.
  • Trains new staff and evaluates their progress.
  • Supports adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provides training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7+ years of experience in transportation operations, fleet management, or logistical freight networks (FTL, LTL, intermodal).
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and regional transportation safety and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with carrier management, rate negotiation, routing guide adherence, and SLA tracking.
  • Ability to build and execute multi-modal transportation schedules across cross-functional teams.
  • Capacity planning skills to balance freight volume fluctuations and carrier capacity.
  • Experience managing end-to-end logistical coordination for high on-time delivery rates.
  • Advanced data analysis skills (Excel, BI tools, TMS reporting) for monitoring operational KPIs.
  • Critical thinking skills to anticipate disruptions and implement contingency plans.
  • Capability to evaluate and improve route inefficiencies using lean/process improvement methods.

Pay

For this position, the expected base pay range is $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
