About the Role

It is the responsibility of the Supervisor Operations to lead, supervise, and support the operations team at show site and in the Branch Office while keeping job costs at the lowest possible level and maintaining quality and safety standards. This position will support our Event & Exhibit Services team and follows an in-person schedule working full-time in-office and/or show-site based out of San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise team members, including training, performance appraisal, rewards, discipline, and participation in hiring/firing decisions.
  • Plan, organize, and direct Operations Department activities to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Study production schedules, estimate team member hour requirements, and assign standby labor as necessary.
  • Work with account executives to meet their needs and schedule area foremen, labor calls, radios, scooters, scissor lifts, boom lifts, trailers, trucks, and forklifts.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to team members and assign duties.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Maintain time and production reports, estimate and inspect job-related materials, and confer with other supervisors to coordinate department activities.
  • Perform activities of team members supervised as needed and prepare labor requirements to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Schedule move-in and move-out times to minimize overtime.
  • Ensure operations team members comply with company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain communication with Account Executives and the Service Desk regarding operational issues.
  • Prepare initial accident reports in accordance with the Risk Management Manual.
  • Ensure operations equipment is well-maintained and housekeeping meets company standards.
  • Submit final paperwork to the Operations Director, including team member performance reports and material usage.
  • Communicate and reinforce company safety objectives, programs, and policies within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations, investigate workplace incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead by example in fostering a strong safety culture and accountability.
  • Track and review safety performance metrics to support decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Two years of show site freight, decorating, and/or I&D experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Carpentry skills required.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and uphold safety policies and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
  • Forklift certification may be required.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Travel 25% to 50%.
