Supervisor of Financial Reporting

About the Role

You will take on a lead supervisory role in developing, implementing, maintaining, and reviewing financial reporting procedures. This position involves high-priority special projects and initiatives within the accounting department, working under limited direction with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set priorities and goals for the team that support the strategic plan and direction of the accounting staff.
• Respond to internal and external customer needs and inquiries.
• Manage and develop a team focused on understanding and reporting the financial recap from various oil and gas assets on a monthly basis.
• Instill confidence in the team regarding their position and interaction with commercial and contract admin groups.
• Create and maintain desk procedures and process workflows as a team.
• Review and approve journal entries.
• Review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and explain variances on a monthly basis.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ad hoc reporting.
• Lead and assist with special projects as needed.
• Ensure all journal entries are posted in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Accounting certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) is a plus.
• Proven work experience as an Accounting Supervisor.

Skills

• Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Excel (managing spreadsheets, creating charts, and using advanced formulas).
• Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
• Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Team management skills.
• Ability to prioritize work.
