About the role

The Supervisor, Nursing Services at Merit Health Natchez oversees clinical and operational activities in the assigned department, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care. This role includes leading and supervising nursing staff, fostering a positive work environment, and supporting continuous quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manages the daily clinical and operational activities of the nursing department, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to established care standards.
• Promotes a culture of safety and quality by monitoring patient care, initiating improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Ensures that nursing staff have the necessary resources, information, and support to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Conducts quality assurance reviews, evaluates performance data, and implements changes to improve patient outcomes and department efficiency.
• Manages clinical resources, including supplies, equipment, and personnel, to optimize patient care and minimize waste.
• Led and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives, supporting organizational goals and regulatory standards.
• Oversees the integration and supervision of clinical affiliate students, ensuring compliance with educational agreements and fostering a learning environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Supervision and Staff Management: Supervises, trains, and oversees departmental staff. Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues. Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
• Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight: Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high quality service. Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services. May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency. May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes as applicable. Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safety.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher preferred
• 1-2 years of related experience in the profession required
• 1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
• BLS - Basic Life Support required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
