About the role
The Supervisor, Nursing Services at Merit Health Natchez oversees clinical and operational activities in the assigned department, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care. This role includes leading and supervising nursing staff, fostering a positive work environment, and supporting continuous quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manages the daily clinical and operational activities of the nursing department, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to established care standards.
- Promotes a culture of safety and quality by monitoring patient care, initiating improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Ensures that nursing staff have the necessary resources, information, and support to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Conducts quality assurance reviews, evaluates performance data, and implements changes to improve patient outcomes and department efficiency.
- Manages clinical resources, including supplies, equipment, and personnel, to optimize patient care and minimize waste.
- Led and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives, supporting organizational goals and regulatory standards.
- Oversees the integration and supervision of clinical affiliate students, ensuring compliance with educational agreements and fostering a learning environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Supervision and Staff Management: Supervises, trains, and oversees departmental staff. Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues. Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
- Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight: Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high quality service. Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services. May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency. May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes as applicable. Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safety.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or higher preferred
- 1-2 years of related experience in the profession required
- 1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred

- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and manage cross-functional relationships

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
