Pay
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position: $77.910 - $100.530 - $112.590 per hour. The actual pay rate and pay grade will depend on factors such as years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and employer business practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and 24-hour responsibility for personnel, ensuring quality clinical nursing care for NICU patients.
- Coordinate care for patients and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, including planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating staff and care activities.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care while maintaining accountability for scheduling, coordinating, and managing resources on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Essential Functions
- Data management:
- Contribute to meeting budgeted salary expense per unit of service.
- Identify and participate in cost-reducing or revenue-enhancing initiatives.
- Utilize supplies cost-effectively to support care delivery within budget.
- Improve systems and processes to enhance staff performance and reduce overall care costs.
- Human resource management:
- Oversee clinical competencies, patient care, and family issues.
- Ensure documentation quality, content, and compliance.
- Support staff and leadership development, teamwork, and communication.
- Participate in meeting attendance and provide employee supervision and feedback according to Sharp HealthCare’s Employee Performance Management Process.
- Engage in the interview, selection, and hiring process.
- Leadership:
- Contribute to the leadership team with creative thinking and innovation to enhance patient care and operational efficiencies.
- Serve in a leadership role on an internal quality improvement committee or task force.
- Provide clinical expertise and leadership for a specialty service, aiding in its growth, development, and quality measurement.
- Process improvement:
- Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to resolve identified issues.
- Assist staff in problem-solving and prioritizing patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians to address and resolve issues.
- Demonstrate resolution of operational issues as negotiated with management.
- Identify bio-ethical dilemmas and initiate appropriate responses.
- Quality:
- Identify and develop action plans to resolve quality issues in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and interdisciplinary care team.
- Identify clinical learning needs and implement plans to ensure learning objectives are met.
- Implement systems to monitor staff compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Achieve and maintain specialty certification in the clinical area of practice.
- Participate in evaluating data pertinent to patient care outcomes, including quality variance reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one year in a NICU equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license – required.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification – required.
