About the Role
We are seeking a Microbiology Supervisor to join our team. This position offers a competitive salary starting at $80-100K, with an overnight shift differential of $153.85 bi-weekly. The role is eligible for a bonus plan with a target of 6% of the base salary. Final pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Effectively hire, develop, train, coach, counsel, manage, and motivate staff members.
- Supervise the activities of microbiology staff from Lab Tech II to Lead Scientist levels across four main divisions: Environmental Monitoring, Finished Products, Aseptic Mentor, and Methods Validation (including the BFR Laboratory).
- Schedule and delegate daily activities to ensure timely completion of objectives.
- Oversee training and maintain positive personnel morale and development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage microbiology department training for non-departmental personnel in aseptic technique and media fill execution.
- Supervise gowning and aseptic technique qualification/requalification programs for production employees.
- Ensure execution of monitoring and testing programs for raw materials, components, in-process and finished goods, environmental systems, and production processes.
- Establish and meet goals for product release, tech transfer, I&D validation, filter validation, and equipment qualification.
- Investigate non-conforming components, raw materials, products, or environmental systems, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Analyze quality trends, address QC test results, microbial profiles, and aseptic behavior.
- Generate and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with cGMPs and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.
- 5 years of progressive laboratory responsibility in pharmaceutical manufacturing or equivalent industrial/clinical experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of quality control testing methods, validation techniques, and microbiology concepts.
- Ability to interpret data using analytical skills and pharmaceutical application experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and understanding workplace communications.
