Supervisor, Major Capital Projects
Job Duties
Manages the major capital program on a 3-5yr basis while meeting the long-term vision and strategy for the El Dorado Refinery
Prioritizes major capital portfolio by evaluating risk, ROI, regulatory, production drivers
Affirms the corporate capital project standards are adhered to within individual projects
Affirms 3rd party engineering support is meeting productivity and cost KPIs
Collaborates with outside engineering/consultants on major capital portfolio
Develops construction strategies while working closely with Capital Construction and Turnaround to manage overall project expectations
Oversight of their direct project manager’s workload to validate project flow efficiency
Collaborates and manages all requests for internal/external support
Provides refinery leadership and project stakeholders with regular updates regarding completion of milestones and significant accomplishments and communicates progress and problems in a timely manner
Provides leadership while building capability within the major capital project group, which mainly is around communication to project stakeholders
Experience
A minimum of 10 years project management is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Project management experience (specifically larger projects that required corporate stakeholder management), Refinery experience, past supervisory experience, operational readiness knowledge (commissioning and start up support), and capital construction experience is strongly preferred.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION LEVEL: A Master’s of Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
Skills
Ability to solve day-to-day problems on projects as well as find and develop solutions for long range viability of projects at the refinery, and work and lead in a collaboratively team environment.
Advanced project engineering skills and training.
Ability to develop and implement a project budget and stay on time and on budget.
Intermediate computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and database.
Self-starter.
Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.
Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
Preferred Skills
Strong project management background is preferred.
Stakeholder management and communication excellence.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility Supervises five employees and manages outside engineering employees and any other human resources needed to accomplish the project.
Work Conditions
Office and field based with up to 10% travel by land and air required.
Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, loud noises and vibrations.
Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.
