Supervisor, General Plant Production (Ends)
Primary Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of the position is to supervise the plant production function as directed.
Essential Responsible Areas
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment by correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating safety meetings, conducting safety inspections, and investigating accidents.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the food safety system.
- Maintain process quality in line with Ball Packaging Operations standards.
- Serve as the facilitator during designated periods and provide administrative and supervisory oversight of the plant production function.
- Administer and review the performance and personal development of subordinates, arrange for on-the-job training, and maintain relevant records.
- Schedule subordinates' vacations, overtime, holidays, and job assignments.
- Communicate and disseminate information between crew operations.
- Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
- Initiate, review, master, and follow SOPs for the area of responsibility.
- Maintain housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
- Administer the department's Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
- Create an employee relations climate of trust and confidence to discourage third-party interference.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the plant, and the company, managing stress and conflict.
- Work irregular shifts, including rotating days and nights, with potential for overtime and call-in duties.
- Aware of and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements.
- Communicate with the emergency coordinator or Environmental Focal Point/Environmental Manager regarding environmental management activities.
- Understand and respond effectively to emergency procedures, equipment, and systems.
- Complete and maintain environmental documentation as required.
- Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Recognize and minimize waste generation through prudent material use and proper disposal.
- Comply with environmental regulations when handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
Position Requirement & Competencies
- Professional & Education Qualification: Broad training in a related field, typically acquired through college or work experience in the can or end-making process. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Skills: Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard production techniques, procedures, and criteria. Must be able to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of business principles, legal practices, product specifications, mechanics of equipment, Ball Packaging Operations quality standards, and general supervisory practices and procedures. Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected Hiring Salary Range: $85,900 - $119,890 (Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market data.)

Other Requirements
- Work Environment: Works in both office and manufacturing environments. Exposed to occupational hazards including high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc. Must wear appropriate safety gear.
- Travel: May be required for travel and local commutes between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations.
