Supervisor, Gateway Clearance - ESF (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

Key Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates customs clearance activities in the customs house brokerage or gateway environment in an efficient and cost-effective manner
• Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products being shipped through all DHL facilities
• Establishes, monitors, and revises policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operations
• Ensures all policies and procedures are consistently administered
• Responsible for meeting key performance indicators targets for a given product
• Supervises a staff of approximately 30 with two direct reports
• This person will be responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff
• Sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes

Skills & Qualifications

• U.S. Customs Broker License preferred
• Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in function or business area
• An advanced understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered
• Knows and effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, budgeting and cost control, and progressive techniques in area of specialization
• Generally understands basic supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary action
• Typically requires BS/BA and 3-5 years’ experience in related field, including at least one year of supervisory experience
• Professional certification required in some areas
