Responsibilities
- Extensive knowledge of applicable laws, codes, standards, and industry practices relating to Machine Shop and Automotive maintenance and Plumbing trade work.
- Operate according to State & Federal regulations, Company policy/procedures, and all safety requirements.
- Comply with health and safety rules and regulations applicable to the company.
- Create and oversee adherence to planned schedules for work carried out.
- Improve site operational effectiveness, project delivery, mean time between failure, and reduce downtime.
- Implement and manage improvement plans to drive key performance indicators.
- Maintain and monitor the performance of mechanical machinery to prevent failures and minimize downtime.
- Allocate work to mechanical technicians and inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Assess needs for stocking critical spare parts and consumables for repair efforts.
- Complete and maintain accurate, timely documentation and records as required.
- Manage departments' operating expenses within approved budgets.
- Ensure resources are used efficiently.
- Provide technical and organizational leadership to department employees.
- Motivate and coordinate department employees and handle disciplinary issues.
- Manage the introduction and purchase of new machinery, plant, and equipment.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Department for the disposal of obsolete machinery, plant, and equipment.
- Apply and supervise machine shop theories, procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree / vocational or technical school degree, with an emphasis in Mechanical/Automotive/HVAC/Welding/Plumbing.
- Prior work experience in Machine Shop, Automotive, and Plumbing trades for at least 10+ years.
- Independent decision-making, non-standard problem-solving, troubleshooting, planning, organizing, and supervising skills.
- Thorough background in reading, modifying, or correcting blueprints, sketches, and drawings.
- Comprehension of manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
- Ability to manage and verify employee techniques and work.
- Detail-oriented to guide and instruct employees in troubleshooting and identifying causes of malfunctions.
