Lead the Fabrication department, coordinating workflow, quality, safety, and efficiency to deliver world-class equipment for customers.
Responsibilities
- Oversee overall safety in the Fabrication department and ensure team members operate safely.
- Manage direct reports, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, retention, and termination.
- Maintain a high-level understanding of design, production, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and shipping requirements for projects.
- Plan workflow and layout for the Fabrication area.
- Develop Fabrication goals, schedules, and task distribution.
- Demonstrate flexibility to assist with project execution as workload demands.
- Foster a positive workplace with high morale on the production floor.
- Participate in manufacturing kickoff meetings with the manufacturing team and engineering.
- Develop employee goals and objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and recommend disciplinary action as needed.
- Provide career counseling for employees.
- Ensure finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Assist in production, safety, and quality risk assessment and mitigation activities.
- Perform any additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- High School education or GED; manufacturing, production, or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop assemblies from specifications.
- Understanding of project requirements related to FAT and shipping.
- Commitment to the highest quality standards.
- Positive attitude and ability to handle tense situations.
- Team-oriented, able to take and give direction.
- Ability to operate and supervise the use of heavy-duty equipment safely.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long-term without sponsorship.
- Adhere to information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report suspected security incidents.
Travel
Up to 5% travel may be required (expenses paid by Bastian Automation).
