Job Duties

  • Maintains a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Participates in staff selection process.
  • Interviews candidates as needed.
  • Schedules days off, holidays and vacations, ensuring that facility's needs are met in accordance with hours and position control.
  • Schedules personnel to established work areas or project duties.
  • Plans and coordinates project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained.
  • Ensures that staff receives proper orientation, initial training and ongoing education.
  • Ensures duty lists are revised and current at all times.
  • Reviews duty lists with regular and relief associates periodically.
  • Ensures that proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all chemicals.
  • Approaches identification and correction of facility quality assurance concerns proactively, following up in a timely manner.
  • Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings on a schedule basis.
  • Attends ongoing staff development and training courses as offered by company and facility.
  • Provides and monitors individual guidance and motivation to Environmental Specialists to enable each one to perform to his/her fullest potential.
  • Disciplines Environmental Specialists when necessary, according to progressive disciplinary guidelines.
  • Maintains attendance records and takes proactive action when patterns of absenteeism are observed.
  • Keeps records and appropriate logbooks current and maintains all necessary documentation.
  • Monitors service binders in assigned areas on a daily basis taking appropriate action to client concerns/comments.
  • Participates in facility Quality Assurance Program as required.
  • Ensures high-quality percentage of clean is maintained in areas of assignment.
  • Performs Quality Assurance Inspections as assigned.
  • Sets up equipment for staff.
  • Maintains daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Ensures that all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times.
  • Prepares Environmental Specialists disciplinary and variance reports and conducts follow-up investigations as needed, reporting findings to appropriate assistant director.
  • Prepares disciplinary action notices and conduct follow-up as required.
  • Conducts disciplinary meetings with associates with guidance from appropriate assistant director.
  • Responds to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and takes necessary corrective action including timely follow-up.
  • Assures that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times.
  • Handles special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assists Environmental Specialists on an as needed basis.
  • Ensures Environmental Services office, storage and closets are clean, organized, well maintained and professional in appearance at all times.

  • Respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness.
  • All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.

Position Qualifications

  • One-year supervisory experience in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contact required.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational ability.
  • Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Education

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.

Job Setting/Physical Demands

  • All areas of Medical Center; contact with staff, patients, visitors.
  • Frequent prolonged standing/walking.
  • Occasionally pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and/or crouching.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility.
