About the Role

The position manages the daily activities of a warehouse to provide the highest customer service, working efficiency, safety, and lowest cost for operational areas. The Supervisor provides leadership as well as motivates, trains, and develops the team. Under the direction of an Operations Manager or General Manager, the incumbent supervises one warehouse. Working with and through warehouse personnel, the incumbent is a team builder who supervises the daily activities of the warehouse including personnel scheduling, supervision, and proper and safe utilization of equipment, building, and personnel. The role applies the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model to improve business processes, increase proficiency, and eliminate waste while meeting corporate values and objectives. This role ensures functional strategies are implemented and supports the Operations Manager and General Manager in managing the performance and capabilities of the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support services and act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area using existing systems and protocols.
• Coordinate the unloading of all shipments using established procedures and verify accuracy of all inbound/outbound shipments.
• Ensure all damaged product reports and/or documentation is complete and filed appropriately.
• Complete daily and hourly tracking of load status and scheduled departures.
• Prepare and generate warehouse productivity reports for management.
• Control cycle counts to ensure accurate and fully reported inventory.
• Monitor product disposition and assist in physical inventories.
• Inspect damaged cartons for concealed damage to product and document accordingly.
• Promote and maintain a safety awareness program; schedule and conduct safety meetings.
• Ensure all required safety measures are in place and the facility complies with all federal and state regulations.
• Ensure subordinates meet training requirements and comply with CT-PAT regulations and Security policies.
• Follow rigid housekeeping and sanitation policies/practices by applying the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean, and orderly facility.
• Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model to improve business processes, increase proficiency, and eliminate waste to meet or exceed budget.
• Provide ongoing training and orientations for subordinates to ensure compliance with company requirements and policies.
• Recommend personnel actions (hire/fire/promotions/increases) and use well-documented corrective disciplinary measures in a timely manner.
• Ensure direct and indirect reports receive frequent feedback on performance, including a 90-day assessment and annual formal performance review.
• Maintain an environment of development and recognition.
• Coordinate scheduling of personnel to ensure proper staffing for receiving and distributing products/materials in a productive and cost-effective manner.
• Monitor attendance, tardiness, and other factors impacting productivity.

Key Result Areas

• Apply 5S Lean methodology to design, attain, and maintain a high level of housekeeping and work process organization, creating and sustaining a safe, clean, and orderly facility.
• Ensure direct and indirect reports comply with all Federal and State OSHA and Company Safety requirements, maintaining an injury- and accident-free work environment.
• Identify and implement processes to ensure the facility meets or exceeds budget requirements.
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives that impact both the facility and the company as a whole.

Requirements

• Forklift Equipment Certifications.
• At least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience; ability to work unsupervised.
• Familiarity with warehouse management and operations, including use and maintenance of equipment.
• Knowledge of inventory control management and distribution service operations.
• Ability to effectively schedule labor and carriers.
• Ability to train and enforce company safety programs as they relate to OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
• Computer (PC) and software knowledge.
• Forklift certified; 2-3 years of previous warehouse experience preferred.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Experience supervising and directing people and resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes (at least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience).

Pay

The typical starting salary range for this position is $72,500 - $82,500. The actual salary offer will consider skills, experience, education, and location. This reflects base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.

Schedule

Work location requirements vary by role and business needs:

• Employees residing within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office (AZ, FL, MI, NC, OR) must follow a designated Hybrid schedule: report to the office 8 days per month, as scheduled by their supervisor.
• Warehouse roles are typically fully on-site.
• Candidates outside the 25-mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles, depending on business needs.
• Remote work requires full compliance with company policies, including workspace standards, timekeeping, and communication protocols.
• Commuting costs are not reimbursed; adherence to this policy is a condition of employment.
