About the role

The Construction Supervisor (CS) is a field leadership position covering multiple (3-6) solar (photovoltaic) installation crews. The CS ensures the Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Customer Experience of residential and small commercial solar installation projects completed by field crews. Responsibilities include organizing, motivating, managing, and training crews daily, with accountability for key performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Electrical and General Construction codes, serving as the construction Subject Matter Expert for the branch
  • Work with the Branch Operations Manager to adjust construction capacity as needed
  • Collaborate with the Project Planner to ensure efficient execution of the construction schedule
  • Organize and optimize crew structure and work schedule for highest productivity
  • Conduct pre-construction project reviews to determine resource requirements
  • Understand and communicate installation Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and results, including construction incentive contests
  • Review crew KPIs and provide feedback and performance management for field staff
  • Lead and assist in training field construction staff on safety, quality, customer service, efficiency, and administrative responsibilities
  • Conduct quality control and safety inspections, providing feedback to construction staff, Engineering Department, and Branch Operations Manager
  • Ensure all projects are completed with a high level of safety and quality
  • Handle administrative duties including training documentation, inspection documentation, project completion records, field purchase orders, and timecard data entry
  • Conduct weekly safety "Tool Box Talk" meetings on electrical safety, fall protection, and PPE
  • Work closely with Warehouse personnel to ensure crews efficiently stock and restock installation vehicles and project materials
  • Demonstrate competency in leading mechanical and electrical work on roof and ground-mounted solar projects
  • Interact professionally with the public and customers, addressing their questions and concerns
  • Meet inspectors, walk them through projects, and discuss NEC Code as needed
  • Document and complete service calls as required by branch needs
  • Assist with project installations to ensure successful completion

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Electrical Certification License
  • Motivated team player with a drive to succeed
  • Ability to follow and give clear instructions, learn quickly, and know when to ask questions
  • Excellent people skills, including managing, motivating, and disciplining staff when necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Professional appearance and customer interaction
  • Operationally focused, detail-oriented, and able to grasp the big picture
  • Strong work ethic and ability to lead by example
  • Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Strong mechanical/construction skills
  • Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, and project management tools (e.g., MS Project)
  • Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards
  • Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certifications (company reimburses class costs)
  • Willingness to dive deep and get involved in hands-on tasks

  • Ability to drive a vehicle for business purposes, pass a driving background check, and be at least 21 years old

Physical Demands

  • Full range of mobility in upper and lower body
  • Ability to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods
  • Frequently lift, pull, and push materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to set up, secure, and climb a 20-foot ladder onto rooftops of various angles and surfaces
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions for extended periods
  • Adequate visual and hearing acuity to follow instructions, operate machinery, and assess work accuracy
  • Work on surfaces of various heights and angles for extended periods

Pay

Starting salary for this opportunity: $101,413.99 to $135,218.65. Compensation decisions will not be based on a candidate's salary history.
