Supervisor, Commercial Sales Support
About the role
Oversee the Commercial Sales Account Coordinator team and the Commercial Package Policy New Business Coordinator team. Build and maintain relationships with agencies and underwriting, and develop direct relationships with Michigan Agency Partners to provide commercial policy placement and renewal support. Oversee commercial sales field teams' current and new business sales support, and maintain a permanent repository of commercial accounts for reference by management and underwriting teams.
Refine best practices for commercial submissions, manage Michigan Farm Bureau County policy programs, and establish workflows for tracking policy premiums, commissions, and production. Work closely with various teams including Michigan Agency Partners (MAP), Commercial Sales Specialists (CSS), Commercial Marketing Partner (CMP), and others to assist agents with application completion and policy management.
Develop commercial knowledge in team members through training programs, support the creation of training materials, and oversee timecard tracking and budget considerations. Collaborate with premium production teams to track new and existing premium production, and maintain a SharePoint-based commercial account repository.
Assist in onboarding and developing new team members, prepare and finalize applications, and prepare quotes for all commercial lines. Support the creation of a commercial presentation program for agents, bind commercial cases, and complete renewal reviews. Work with FB Partners Group on policy quoting, carrier negotiations, and coverage comparisons, and market cases to brokers and carriers.
Handle renewal work, review coverage forms, complete binding processes, and support Commercial Sales team members in building agent relationships. Provide training and support for agents and their staff on commercial lines functions, including certificates of insurance, binders, and endorsements. Collaborate with the Commercial Service Center team and support projects as needed.
Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain a repository of commercial accounts for sales and underwriting reference.
- Refine best practices for commercial submissions and advise project management teams.
- Manage Michigan Farm Bureau County policy programs for all stakeholders.
- Establish workflows for tracking, compiling, assigning, and coordinating policy premiums, commissions, and production.
- Work with Michigan Agency Partners, Commercial Sales Specialists, and other teams to assist agents with application completion.
- Install best practices and refine processes within the Commercial Sales Account Coordinator team.
- Develop commercial knowledge in team members through training programs.
- Support the development of training and education materials.
- Oversee timecard tracking, review, and approval for team members.
- Review and provide guidance on departmental budget needs.
- Assign, track, and maintain records for Commercial Sales and Farm Sales Specialist team members.
- Track new and existing premium production for commercial and farm divisions.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain a SharePoint-based commercial account repository.
- Assist in onboarding and developing new Commercial Sales Specialists and other team members.
- Prepare and finalize applications for all lines of business.
- Prepare quotes and communicate with underwriters for proper classification.
- Support the creation of a commercial presentation program for agents.
- Bind commercial cases and follow up on required items (e.g., loss runs, photos, BVS details).
- Complete renewal reviews and coverage recommendations for agencies.
- Work with FB Partners Group on policy quoting, carrier negotiations, and coverage comparisons.
- Market cases to brokers and carriers for new business submissions.
- Evaluate team member capacity and assign tasks based on program growth.
- Handle FB Partners Group renewal work directly with agencies.
- Review coverage forms and provide recommendations to agents.
- Complete the binding process for Commercial Sales Specialists-related business.
- Support Commercial Sales team members in developing agent relationships.
- Promote the use of the commercial program in print or electronic formats.
- Answer agent questions regarding billing, customer service, claims, and coverage.
- Provide training to agents and staff on commercial lines functions (e.g., certificates of insurance, binders, endorsements).
- Carry out agent training and telephone billing support for FB Partners Group and Farm Bureau business.
- Coordinate the writing of certificates of insurance with agent staff.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Service Center team to provide insight and feedback.
- Support projects on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of eight years of insurance industry experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Advanced Guidewire Policy Center experience required.
- Keyboarding skills of 60 wpm with accuracy required.
- Active property/casualty license required, or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
- Four years of commercial account experience preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize Agency Management System preferred.
- Certification in CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) preferred.
- Certification in CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) preferred.
