About the role

We are seeking a Supervisor-Central Distribution at NYU Langone Health. As part of our comprehensive academic medical center, you will assist the Manager of Central Distribution in inventory control, manage staff schedules, and coordinate medical surgical supplies to nursing units.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to maximize resources and adjust according to workload.
  • Affirmatively assesses department status and plans workflow.
  • Distributes assignments equitably and assigns work to meet goals.
  • Informs employees of assignments and solicits feedback.
  • Maintains work area, checks email and mail daily, and records daily happenings.
  • Monitors and enhances quality of processes and products.
  • Manages time effectively, prioritizing important tasks.
  • Utilizes a timetable and year planner for shift and departmental goals.
  • Teaches basic sciences related to microbiology, decontamination, preparation, and sterilization.
  • Maintains organizational skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Follows documentation guidelines and actively participates in policy development.
  • Reports on monthly management meetings and incorporates new changes from regulatory agencies.
  • Uses productivity reports to assess areas of improvement and proactively sets goals.
  • Develops and implements innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Communicates the need for new policies and procedures to superiors.
  • Addresses contingencies in plans and develops short and long-range plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Healthcare related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of responsible, progressive work experience in supply distribution.
  • Knowledge of specific health care products.
  • Current membership and active participation in a relevant professional organization.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal supervision principles, leadership education, or certification in healthcare leadership concepts.
  • CMRP or IAHCSMMs materials management certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory control software such as Pathways Materials Management.
