Supervisor Building and Grounds

Location: Parkland, LL BLK 400

About the Role

Supervises the repair and maintenance of the buildings and grounds on the main campus, ensuring the facilities are safe and well preserved.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Six (6) years of general maintenance experience
• Texas Class C Driver's License

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous supervisory experience or experience in a Lead role
• Experience in a complex healthcare environment

Skills & Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of various facility construction and maintenance techniques
• Able to read construction drawings and specifications for building maintenance
• Basic computer skills
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated supervisory skills and techniques
• Physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders

Responsibilities

• Selects, trains, schedules, motivates, supervises, and evaluates employees; makes recommendations for disciplinary actions up to and including termination to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities
• Ensures assigned employees receive opportunities to further their knowledge
• Supervises the repair and maintenance of Parkland buildings and grounds by communicating with staff concerning repair and maintenance needs
• Evaluates needs, determines personnel and materials required, and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and proper completion
• Monitors material stock in the shop and orders necessary materials as needed; ensures proper inventory for effective departmental operations
• Maintains inventory records of hospital equipment and tools, ensuring accuracy
• Assists with developing, implementing, monitoring, and revising annual goals and objectives for the Building & Grounds repair and maintenance area to support Parkland’s missions and objectives
• Maintains a positive working relationship with management, vendors, and other hospital employees to ensure effective departmental operations
• Monitors annual budgets to ensure the Building & Grounds repair and maintenance area has necessary funds to carry out established goals and objectives
