Duties & Responsibilities

  • Purpose of Position: Under general supervision, supervises a hospital care investigating field office located in a hospital, or a review section at the Central Office, or a unit processing special claims for reimbursement at the Central Office, or acts as principal assistant to a higher ranking Hospital Care Investigator; performs related work.
  • Examples of Typical Tasks: 1. Supervises Senior Hospital Care Investigators in charge of individual units conducting investigations to determine eligibility and/or reviewing applications for eligibility for medical assistance.
    2. Plans and coordinates staff schedules and assignments to assure maximum utilization of available personnel.
    3. Establishes statistical controls and data to be maintained in the staff units.
    4. Supervises training programs.
    5. Conducts staff meetings.
    6. Interprets policy, rules and regulations for the guidance of the staff, serves as a case consultant in difficult cases and directs the investigations of difficult cases.
    7. Prepares detailed reports on work flow and performance of the unit, evaluating staff according to established standards of performance and recommending appropriate personnel action when indicated.
    8. Participates in program conferences, sets up and maintains regular conference schedules, is available for other conferences when necessary and participates in meetings for the exchange of information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six months of service in the title of Senior Hospital Care Investigator.
