Supervising Discipline Engineer, Structural

About the role

Aecon is seeking a Supervising Structural Engineer with experience supporting Power Generation Projects in our Mt. Laurel, NJ or Charlotte, NC offices. The successful applicant will lead and support various projects throughout the United States, including simple and combined cycle powerplants, nuclear projects, and plant retrofits.

Responsibilities

• Function as the structural discipline lead on various power and heavy industrial projects.
• Manage the structural engineering and design team, adhere to the established scope of work, monitor and manage the engineering cost and schedule performance.
• As the structural engineer of record for assigned projects, use your professional engineering license to sign and seal structural drawings developed under your supervision.
• Develop structural calculations, foundation and structural steel designs for various projects, from conceptual design through construction, including supporting structural site work.
• Ability to coordinate interdisciplinary team of engineers and designers to complete project tasks on schedule and on budget.
• Review relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support project development.
• Ability to develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of steel and concrete foundations and structures for convention generation (fossil fueled) and/or nuclear power plants.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership position.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in any state within the US, and the ability to obtain additional licenses through comity would be considered an asset.
• Experience with industry standard engineering software such as STAAD Pro, ANSYS, Mathcad, etc.
• The successful candidate must have strong communication skills and be capable of collaborating with the multi-discipline engineers and designers.
• Additional experience with seismic analysis and design of structures, systems, and components for nuclear power plants is a plus.
• Experience with AutoDesk Advance Steel would be considered an asset.
• M.S. in Structural Engineering is an asset.

• Must be able to pass a background check.

Pay

Pay Range: $160,000 - $180,000 per year
