Job Description And Duties
Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 16, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 4.62 percent and will receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period. Limited Term positions are 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and oversees the work of the Dentists, CF, and the Supervising Dental Assistant (SDA), CF within an institution.
- Ensures clinical staff complies with the Inmate Dental Services Program (IDSP) Policies and Procedures (P&P), and State and federal regulations.
- Provides leadership, chart reviews, training, clinical instruction, and guidance to clinical staff within the dental clinic.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited school.
- Current California Dental Board license.
- At least five years of progressive experience in a correctional facility setting.
- Experience in managing a dental clinic and supervising dental staff.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to inmate dental services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually.
