SUPERVISING CORRECTIONAL COOK DEPT OF CORRECTIONS
About the role
This is the first supervisory senior level in the series. In addition to the duties of the Correctional Supervising Cook (CF), the Supervising Correctional Cook (DOC) may have responsibility for one of the central kitchens in a multifacility. Incumbents direct, train, and supervise the work of employees and incarcerated workers, evaluate their performance and take or recommend appropriate action, and act for the Assistant Correctional Food Manager.

Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

- Ability to communicate effectively, utilizing various platforms at a level required for successful job performance

Pay
Monthly salary range: $5,293.00 – $6,621.00. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee to receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027; salaries shown do not reflect this reduction.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time. Work week will vary based on post assignment.
Working Conditions
Position is at Valley State Prison in Chowchilla (Madera County), approximately 30 miles north of Fresno and close to Yosemite National Park. Surrounding communities are affordable and offer excellent educational opportunities. Telework: In Office.
