About the role

The Supervising Attendant Guard oversees all reporting personnel and performs typical duties of an Attendant Guard. This role enforces the rules and regulations of the New York Botanical Garden, implements emergency procedures, and assists in training and orientation of new staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise attendant guards and other appropriate personnel; prepare and implement personnel post assignments.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of security personnel.
  • Report inappropriate behavior of personnel to superiors and prepare related documentation.
  • Implement emergency procedures, provide first aid, and notify appropriate Garden staff, 911, and/or authorities when necessary.
  • Respond to all emergencies and calls for assistance, providing first aid and notifying 911 and/or authorities when required.
  • Respond to disorderly conduct, suspicious persons, and trespassers; evict individuals and notify authorities as needed.
  • Enforce NYBG policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all necessary reports and complete required forms.
  • Perform tasks usually assigned to reporting personnel as needed.
  • Assist visitors, staff, and students with reasonable requests.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  • 4+ years of full-time security experience or related work, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Security Guard License from the Division of Licensing Services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Indoor Place of Assembly F-03 Certificate of Fitness or be able to obtain it within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment F-01 Certificate of Fitness or be able to obtain it within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-95 Certificate of Fitness or be able to obtain it within the first 90 days of employment.

Physical Demand & Work Environment

Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.

Schedule

This is a full-time role, Tuesday to Saturday, 8 AM – 4 PM. Regular days off: Sunday and Monday.

Pay

$52,958 per year.
