Superintendent Supply and Logistics - REP
Responsibilities
The positions in Buses and Subways Field and Base Support Operations in the North and South are responsible for managing the daily operations of the 7-10 Satellite and Small Main Storerooms supporting the Department of Buses’ (DOB) or the Department of Subways’ (DOS) maintenance operations in the depots, or car shops, and yards, located in the five boroughs of the city or the operation of the Base Support complexes, Main, Small Main, and Units Storerooms supporting the major DOS overhaul shops and DOB central maintenance facilities.
The efficiency and effectiveness of the Satellite Storerooms, which provide 7 days per week coverage, throughout the year, and the Base Support facilities providing critical support to NYCT’s preventive maintenance programs, are dependent on a strong managerial presence and oversight of all receiving, warehousing, issuance/transfer activities, and associated functions.
The prompt receipt, processing, systems updating, reconciliation, storage, and issuance of delivered stock is key to meeting the material support requirements of the Division of Supply Logistics’ customers and the safe and efficient operations of the bus and subway fleets serving the riding public throughout the city.
Positions in Central Warehousing Operations are responsible for a 24/7 operation with respect to the capacity and staff planning, control, and direction of the receipt of MTA's inventory assets at one of the division's Central Warehouses.
Responsible for planning and directing the storage and redistribution of material to over 60 storerooms located throughout the Agency service area, to support the material replenishment requirements of the maintenance and administrative operations.
The incumbent may also be responsible for overseeing a diversified trucking fleet, planning routes and schedules or direct the kitting operation, planning production to build kits for the Bus and Subway overhaul programs.
Requirements
At least seven (7) years of experience in the material handling, maintenance and or the supply chain field, including five (5) years of managerial/supervisory/administrative experience in a warehousing environment; or A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
However, all candidates must have five (5) years of managerial/supervisory experience in a warehousing environment.
Qualifications
A Baccalaureate degree in business administration, industrial engineering, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
Knowledge of warehousing operations, inventory management, material handling and storage techniques, and procedures development.
Experience working with computerized inventory and warehouse management systems.
Warehousing safety management.
Experience working in a large organization with multiple bases of operation.
Experience in project management.
Project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Negotiating skills and labor management techniques with experience in enforcing contractual agreements.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Skills
