Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure communication with the Contractor, HUG Operations, and LUG Project Management for all daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans and schedules.
- Cookordinate functions during the development, approval, and execution phases of Capital Works.
- Maintain Master Project Schedule – ensure schedule reflects asbuilts and weekly progress update HUG Technical services and Senior Project Engineer of deviations from baseline.
- Ensure all works under area of control are completed to a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirements.
Project Management
- Support project execution to meet technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements.
- Review construction drawings and specification set out by the designer.
- Ensure document control standards are followed throughout the life of the project.
- Support development of updated forecasts and budget with senior level and management.
- Collaborate with Cost Controller and Purchasing to ensure performance reporting is complete within deadlines.
Health, Safety, and Environment
- Comply with OceanaGold Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy.
- Promote safety awareness and environmental responsibility amongst company and contract personnel.
- Report all personal injuries and incidents and assist with investigations.
- Actively support and participate in safety and environmental initiatives.
- Accept accountability to ensure personal safety and the safety of others whilst protecting the environment.
- Monitor the reporting of workplace incidents and hazards to ensure effective risk mitigation is maintained.
- Undertake workplace inspections and audits to ensure site standards are being adhered to.
- Support incident investigations that occur within area of control.
Qualifications
- Education- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field
- Experience- 7-10 years of underground experience is preferred
- Experience in mine planning using DESWIK.sched or other scheduling software’s (previous experience with DESWIK.sched will be highly regarded).
- Experience in scheduling with Microsoft Projects preferred
- Previous experience in civil or mining construction highly regarded
- Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry standard software
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to see projects through to completion are a must
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work will require underground underground and surface time, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in an underground/surface mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
