Directs the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines while ensuring specifications are met. Oversees all electric construction activities to provide reliable and efficient service, maintain safety for employees and the public, and manage right-of-way clearing programs and warehouse operations.
Responsibilities
- Direct construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines.
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- Oversee right-of-way clearing program and warehouse operations.
- Interpret technical manuals and provide or direct technical training for reporting personnel.
- Read and interpret instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
- Organize, plan, direct, coordinate, and control operations department activities.
- Motivate, train, and evaluate subordinates to maximize productivity and individual development.
Requirements
- Journeyman Lineman certification with ten years of work experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible experience as an electrical utility worker, preferably in operations or engineering, including all phases of construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of LUB Materials Specifications, Construction Standards, National Electrical Safety Code, and OSHA Regulations (or willingness to obtain).
- Understanding of LUB policies, procedures, service terms, rates, and regulations (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of LUB’s specifications and requirements for right-of-way clearing (or willingness to obtain).
- Thorough knowledge of LUB tree trimming policies, procedures, and right-of-way regulations.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Working Conditions
- Normal office conditions with considerable fieldwork.
- Irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
- Position is designated as safety-sensitive and subject to pre-employment, periodic, reasonable cause, post-accident, and random drug testing.
- After an offer of employment, a physical is required.
- Hourly, non-exempt position according to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
